Course Outcomes
The 22609VIC Course in Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure up to 22 kW is designed to provide licenced electricians with the skills and knowledge to:
- consult with clients regarding electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI) requirements
- assess the potential integration of new EVCI with existing residential and (small) commercial electrical installations
- design and propose compliant EVCI according to consumer requirements
- assess options, test, and commission appropriate EVCI according to usage, configuration and budgetary requirements.
The 22609VIC Course in Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure up to 22 kW, contains 2 units of competency, both units will need to be completed successfully to be issued with the qualification.
- VU23286 Design electric vehicle charging infrastructure installation up to 22kW
- VU23287 Test and commission electric vehicle charging infrastructure installation up to 22kW
The assessment tasks require the learner to satisfactorily complete four assessment tasks, leaners must satisfactorily complete all tasks to achieve competency for the 2 units.
Assessment Task 1
Learners must answer written questions
Assessment Task 2
Confirm plan details, conduct site inspections, and discuss options based on scenarios with two clients for:
- a residential premise
- a small commercial premise.
Assessment Task 3
Design Solution Reports based on scenarios and site inspections:
- a residential premise
- a small commercial premise.
Assessment Task 4
Present, Design, Test and Commission:
- Present the Design Solution Report to Each Client
- Test and Commission the EVCI for Each Premise
- Present the Test Reports and Safe Use of Equipment to the Clients

To undertake the 22609VIC Course in Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure up to 22kW, the learner is required to hold an Electrician’s Licence (A) registered with Energy Safe Victoria as a pre-entry requirement.
A licensed electrician must install any electrical equipment that normally operates at a voltage greater than extra low voltage (ELV).
Learners need to demonstrate that they have the required level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) to complete this course, therefore learners will need to complete an LLN assessment prior to commencing your enrolment.
Unique Student Identification (USI) – As of 1st of January 2015, the Australian Government introduced compulsory USI numbers. The USI is a reference number that gives you access to your USI account. A USI will allow you to see your results from all training providers including all completed units and qualifications. Please ensure that you have obtained your USI and provide it to the training provider. The process takes a couple of minutes, is free and available online at http://www.usi.gov.au.
