Energy Efficiency Management Project

Enrol for the free non-accredited Energy Efficiency Program

As part of this project, a free non-accredited version of the Energy Efficiency Program will be run. This course is open to all A Grade licensed electricians. There are no other prerequisite requirements.

Designed by industry and supported by the ETU, courses will be delivered by Future Energy Skills and Holmesglen TAFE.

Outcomes:

  • Accredited Course: Developed in compliance with regulatory standards, offering electricians a specialised pathway to extend their services into energy efficiency assessment and management.
  • Increased Public Awareness: The media campaign generated consumer interest, positioning the sector as a key player in achieving energy-efficient solutions.

Option 1

(Offered Mondays). Learn about submetering for small commercial businesses, including how to set up, generate, and interpret energy data.

Option 2

(Offered Fridays). Learn more about how to develop electrification plans for homeowners so they can phase out reliance on gas.

Course Description

Licenced electricians who complete the program will:

  • Enrol and complete the assessment only component to be awarded 22664VIC Course in Energy Efficiency Management starting 2026.
  • Have the enhanced skills and knowledge to support the electrification of Australian homes and small businesses.
  • Be more employable, standing out among peers for their knowledge and skills.Demonstrate a commitment to career development in a growth area
  • Have the potential to earn more money as a knowledgeable, trusted adviser to customers and workmates.

Energy efficiency is pivotal in advancing global decarbonisation initiatives. With increasing electrification and the growing adoption of clean energy technologies, the electrotechnology sector faces rising demand for expertise in energy efficiency management. To address this need and support government clean energy strategies, the industry has recognized the necessity of upskilling its workforce to meet future challenges effectively.

Future Energy Skills (FES) was commissioned by the Electrical Trades Union (ETU) to manage this critical project. Funded by the Department of Education, the initiative aims to enhance workforce capabilities through a structured approach:

  1. Course Development and Accreditation:
    a. Designed and accredited the Course in Energy Efficiency Management, equipping licensed electricians with skills to assess and address energy efficiency needs in residential and commercial settings.
  2. Advanced Training and Assessment Resources:
    a. Developed state-of-the-art learning materials and assessment tools, ensuring practical and theoretical knowledge aligns with industry standards.
  3. Public Awareness Campaign:
    a. Launched a media campaign to raise public awareness and stimulate interest in energy efficiency services, highlighting the role of skilled electricians in achieving sustainability goals.

Project Aims:

  • Strengthen the energy efficiency workforce development within the electrotechnology sector.
  • Equip professionals to meet rising consumer and commercial demands for energy efficiency management driven by decarbonisation efforts.

This course is open to all A Grade licensed electricians. There are no other prerequisite requirements.

Further Study: In 2026, students who have attended this course can enrol in the assessment only in the 22664Vic Course in Energy Efficiency Management in either residential or commercial applications
