This policy applies to the administration and application of fees, charges, cancellations and refunds applicable to the provision of training courses, seminars, events and consultancy services provided by the Centre for U.

The Centre for U is committed to ethical financial management practices, and these include a fair and reasonable approach to the setting and refund of fees to participants enrolling in training courses.

Course Fee Inclusions

  • Unless otherwise specified, course fees include the cost of all training and assessment materials, administration fees and materials charges.
  • Course fees include the issuing of one set of certification documents upon completion or withdrawal from the course.
  • Unless otherwise specified, seminar, event and consultancy fees are a once-off, all-inclusive cost.

Setting Fees and Charges

  • Fees and charges are set by the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Current fees are published on the current webpage for each course.
  • Fees and charges will be reviewed annually and adjusted accordingly.
  • Fees are set according to the following principles:
Free or Discounted Services for ETU Members

The Centre for U provides Training, Upskilling and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for ETU members as free or discounted services.

Free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for ETU Members
  • Our CPD program is offered free for all employed ETU members.
One Free Course Per Year
  • For all other training/upskilling programs, employed ETU members are provided with one free course per year. Courses must be part of the fee-free program.
  • Subsequent enrolments in the same year are discounted for ETU members. The fees for every course, including any materials or other charges are published on that course’s webpage.
  • Members must be financial at the time of enrolment to access this entitlement and meet the Eligibility section on our website.
Unemployed ETU Members

Unemployed members are not restricted to one free course per year, provided they meet eligibility criteria identified in the Eligibility section on our website. Proof of unemployment is required at the time of booking and needs to be no more than six (6) months old. Suitable proof includes:

  • Employment Separation Certificate
  • Redundancy/Termination Notice
  • Statutory Declaration (stating that the individual has not been working on the tools/earning an income)
Non-Members

Non-members can access training with The Centre for U on a fee-for-service basis. Course fees for non-members are listed on our website.

Employer & Group Bookings
  • All programs can be offered to an employer’s staff group on a fee-for-service basis.
  • Employers cannot use their employees’ annual fee-free entitlement to cover the cost of training.
  • A group discount may apply from time to time; contact our office to discuss your needs.

RPL & Credit Transfers

  • There is no change to course fees if a student applies for, or completes their course via RPL.
  • There is no charge for credit transfer.

Fee Protection

  • To protect fees paid in advance, the Centre for U will not require a student to pay more than $1,000 in advance for services not yet provided, either prior to course commencement or at any stage during their course.
  • Where course fees exceed $1,000, the Centre for U will create a payment plan, ensuring that at any given time, the total amount required to be paid will not exceed $1,000 for training services yet to be delivered.

Payment Terms

  • Course fees are to be paid in full at the time of enrolment.
  • Course fees can be paid by credit card or debit card over the phone, on provision of a tax invoice or during online enrolment.
  • If you are experiencing financial difficulty, contact us as early as possible — we will work with you to reach an achievable outcome.
  • Where course fees exceed $1,000, the Centre for U will create a payment plan for the student, ensuring that at any given time, the total amount required to be paid will not exceed $1,000 for training services yet to be delivered.
  • Where an employer books training on behalf of a group, the employer is invoiced and payment is due within 14 days and in order for the course to be confirmed.
  • Certification documents are issued once the course is complete and payment has been received in full.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • If a student withdraws from a course, event, seminar or consultancy service after commencement of the service, all fees are non-refundable or transferable.
  • If a student withdraws from a course 3 business days or more prior to the commencement of the course, a full refund is available.
  • If a student withdraws from a course less than 3 business days from commencement, a $70 cancellation fee will be applied.
  • Exceptions to the refund policy may be applied on medical grounds or in extenuating personal circumstances.  Students must apply in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, requesting a refund, stating the situation and providing any evidence to support their claim. The outcome will be advised in 14 business days.
  • If the Centre for U is unable to deliver a course in full or dates need to be changed, the student will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to transfer to a new course if one is scheduled.
  • Refunds will be paid towards your original payment method within 5 days (if eligible).
