Design and Install Grid Connected PV Systems
This course is designed to up-skill electricians for the design and installation of grid connected solar PV systems.
This training is free to unemployed ETU members.
Duration: 5 days face-to-face combined with additional self directed study

Course Description
This short course provides nationally accredited training for electricians in the design and installation of grid-connected PV systems.
By undertaking this course, you will complete the following nationally recognised units:
- UEENEEK125A: Solar Basic Problems in PV Energy Apparatus and Systems.
- UEENEEK135A: Design Grid Connected PV Power Supply Systems
- UEENEEK148A: Install, configure and commission LV grid connected PV power systems

Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards, as well as written questions and design projects.
Course Outcomes
After successfully completing this course, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment from the Training Provider. You may apply to the Clean Energy Council (CEC) for Provisional Accreditation for Design and Install of Grid-connected PV systems. Other requirements apply.
Course Fees
Unemployed Member: FREE
The ETU has covered the costs of the course and text book. We will also make available the required Australian Standards for you in class. These are ‘class sets’ and must be returned. If you decide to work in the solar industry, you will need to purchase the Australian Standards.
Eligibility for Free Training
To access the Upskilling Services for free, ETU members must be:
- Financial (includes suspended up to six (6) months)
- A member for more than three (3) months
- Unemployed
Proof of unemployment will be required. For more information read our Eligibility Policy.
A current unrestricted Electrician’s Licence. Third year Apprentices may be eligible for Design Only studies – contact provider for information.
Unique Student Identification (USI) – As of 1st of January 2015, the Australian Government introduced compulsory USI numbers. The USI is a reference number that gives you access to your USI account. A USI will allow you to see your results from all training providers including all completed units and qualifications.
Please ensure that you have obtained your USI and provide it to the training provider. The process takes a couple of minutes, is free and available online at http://www.usi.gov.au.
