Learn how to reduce the risk and to prevent and control infection while carrying out routine work activities in the construction industry.
BSBWHS332X Apply Infection Prevention and Control Procedures to own Work Activities (forming part of the Cross-sector Infection Control Skill Set – BSBSS00095)
This course covers the skills and knowledge required to reduce the risk and transmission of infection while carrying out routine work activities in the construction industry. It involves implementing standard and transmission-based precautions, identifying infection hazards, and assessing and responding to infection risks.
This training is free to ETU members.
Duration: The course is delivered within a 6-week period. Students will undertake a combination of online self-paced learning (26 hours) before attending The Centre for U to undertake their formal assessments (4 hours).
Location: The Centre for U – Level 3, 200 Arden Street, North Melbourne Victoria
Upon successful completion of this course you will learn how to:
- apply organisational infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities
- identify infection hazards, assess the risk they pose, and respond to each within scope of own role and responsibilities.
Students need to bring personal protective equipment including a face covering/mask, hard hat, eye and ear protection to wear on assessment day. Disposable masks and gloves will be provided for assessment purposes.
To demonstrate your competence, assessment methods will include oral and written questions, a small project and observation of practical tasks.
All training and assessment is completed under the rules of evidence and principles of assessment.

Eligibility for Free Training
This course is funded by the Commonwealth Government for individuals who meet the pre-requisite requirements.
You must be currently working in the construction industry and hold a Certificate III trade qualification or higher.Achievement of a languarge, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment prior to commencing your online training. This is to demonstrate that you have the required level of LLN to complete this course.
Unique Student Identification (USI)
As of 1st of January 2015, the Australian Government introduced compulsory USI numbers. The USI is a reference number that gives you access to your USI account. A USI will allow you to see your results from all training providers including all completed units and qualifications. Please ensure that you have obtained your USI and provide it to the training provider. The process takes a couple of minutes, is free and available online at http://www.usi.gov.au.
