Hazardous Area Wiring (HAW) – Refresher Course
The Hazardous Area Wiring Refresher course will consist of tuition across two days and will provide an overview of the units of competency completed in the Hazardous Area Wiring Initial course in addition to assessments to confirm continued competency. Participants in the Refresher course must have a current Initial course accreditation.

Duration: The course duration is for a period of 2 consecutive days (16 hours) of tuition consisting of theory, practical application and assessment.
Location: The Centre for U – Level 3, 200 Arden Street, North Melbourne Victoria
Course Description
The Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas course gives students the competency to undertake electrical work in a hazardous area and aligns to the requirements outlined in AS/NZS 4761 Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas (EEHA).
This course is for anyone involved in the “hands-on” side of hazardous area electrical work, i.e. the installation, maintenance or inspection of hazardous area electrical equipment.
Electricians and instrument technicians are the most common attendees, but we also train electrical engineers who perform inspections as part of their role.
The course covers the theory and practice of field work in hazardous areas. Through a combination of theory and practical activities, participants will refresh their knowledge and skills to report, inspect, install, maintain and attend breakdowns of electrical equipment in a potential explosive environment.
Participants will undertake of a refresher of the Hazardous Area Wiring skill set nationally accredited units.

Assessment will be a blend of theory, practical and online assessment, undertaken in class.
Course Outcomes
After successfully completing this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment from the Training Provider.

Non Member: $895
Employed members and non-members to pay the associated fees directly with the training provider.
Eligibility for Free Training
To access the Upskilling Services for free, ETU members must be:
- Financial (includes suspended up to six (6) months)
- A member for more than three (3) months
- Unemployed
