Continuing Professional Development for your electricians - The Centre For U

Continuing Professional Development for your electricians

All licenced electricians you employ will soon be required to do a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course before they renew their licence. But you don’t have to sweat it. The Centre for U can train your employees in groups of up to 12, or you can arrange a mobile training session on your own site.

The Energy Regulator will soon require all licenced electricians to complete a Continuing Professional Development Course before renewing their licence. CPD courses start from July 1, 2022,  and the new rules will apply to all licence renewals from July 1, 2023. The required Skills Maintenance course takes just 8 hours so your staff can get up to date in a day without loads of time off work.

Electricity standards and practices do change over time. So these new Energy Regulator rules are designed to keep Electrical Workers upskilled and up to date so they can work safely and build on their existing knowledge. Continually trained for Electrical Workers mean fewer accidents and even more confidence in our respected industry.

The new rules apply to workers in all these licence classes:

  • Electrician
  • Electrical inspector
  • Electrician Supervised (ES)
  • Switchgear Licence
  • Restricted Electrical Licence
  • Line Worker Licence (commencing 2026)

Booking your staff in for a CPD Skills Maintenance course at the Centre for U is a bright idea, because we have Victoria’s best purpose built electrical training facility. Your electrical workers can train with their workmates in a relaxed setting and get loads of individual attention to get them through without a glitch. They don’t even have to be an ETU member, as it’s free to all electricians.
