The Energy Regulator will soon require all licenced electricians to complete a Continuing Professional Development Course before renewing your licence. You can do your CPD course from July 1, 2022, and the new rules will apply to all licence renewals from July 1, 2023. The required Skills Maintenance course takes just 8 hours so you can get up to date in a day without taking loads of time off work.
Electricity standards and practices do change over time. So these new Energy Regulator rules are designed to keep Electrical Workers upskilled and up to date so you can work safely and build on your existing knowledge. Continually trained Electrical Workers mean fewer accidents, and even more confidence in our respected industry.
The new rules apply to workers in all these licence classes:
- Electrical inspector
- Electrician Supervised (ES)
- Switchgear Licence
- Restricted Electrical Licence
- Line Worker Licence (commencing 2026)
Doing your CPD Skills Maintenance course at the Centre for U is a bright idea, because we have Victoria’s best purpose built electrical training facility. You can train with your mates in a relaxed setting and get loads of individual attention to get you through without a glitch. You don’t even have to be an ETU member, as it’s free to all electricians.
