Strategic Partners

The year-long partnership between the ETU, The Centre for U, and Dads in Distress (DIDS) will support ETU dads when experiencing trauma related to family breakdown and separation. Members will have access to a dedicated Peer Support Group that will be facilitated at The Centre for U, commencing February 2022.

The Peer Support Groups are run By Dads, For Dads – all the DIDS team have Lived Experience of what some dads may be going through right now and are trained to walk alongside you.

About Dads in Distress

Dads in Distress is a charity solely focused on supporting Dads experiencing trauma related to family breakdown and separation.  Separation from their former partner and from their children; a factor closely linked to suicide in Australia.

Dads in Distress operate frontline services focussing separately on the support needs of dads as well as mums, however it is overwhelmingly dads who reach out for support via the Dads in Distress service.

Last Father’s Day they celebrated 22 years of supporting Dads in Distress across Australia, through their National Suicide Prevention Helpline, face to face Peer Support Groups, and more recently, online support groups.

DIDS provide the following services:

  • National suicide prevention helpline;
  • Physical peer support groups – DIDS groups
  • Online peer support groups
  • Social media messaging service and Email support
  • Online parent’s forum
  • Ongoing training and support for staff and volunteers.
